Meet Gita!

Tell us a little more about you. I grew up in New Delhi, India and moved to the US to attend college in Michigan.  On a visit to DC, I fell in love with the city and just knew that this was the place for me!  So when it was time for me to consider graduate school, I applied to GW so that I could move to DC.  That was in 2001 and now DC is my home along with my husband and two pups! 

Why do you like to do dance fitness as your work out?  I am part of the MTV generation and have always loved choreography in music videos.  I also love to dance and workout so dance fitness is the best of both worlds!  I have been doing this for over 5 years now and still feel empowered, goofy and sexy (all at the same time) during every class!

What makes you feel bold or fierce in your every day life? Accomplishing something meaningful, no matter how big or small, makes me feel like a bold, kick-a** woman! 

What music are you listening to right now? What are your musical influences and why? I am currently listening to the Hamilton soundtrack because I just saw the show and it was an incredible experience!  I like all genres of music from classic rock to hip-hop; just depends on my mood.

Tell us a fun fact about you. I met the Dalai Lama as a child!

Do you have any interesting fitness related goals in 2017? To continue to stay active and have fun doing so!

Any reason why you like BoldBeats/Sara's classes? Sara is an amazing dancer and knows how to motivate a class.  She creates an energizing and fun playlist for every class, which is super important, especially for a 7:30 pm class!

Anything else you want us to know? I can't sing to save my life!
